Donate Time
Are you ready to volunteer? We’re ready to work with you!
Volunteer orientation is the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 5 p.m. at Homeward Bound.Â
Email volunteer@hbofa.org to register for the next one!
Opportunities On-site
Staff the A HOPE Day Center Desk–
A HOPE is open from 7 a.m. to 12Â Â p.m. every day, and 2 volunteers per day assist A HOPE staff in getting the job done, handing out towels & toiletries for showers, checking mail & phone messages, and offering kindness & hope.
Sorting Donations – To be good stewards of the donations we receive, we need your help organizing them! When they’re sorted & orderly, it’s easy to see what we’ve got to give, which makes it easier to get it out of our building & into the apartments of our clients, where it belongs!
Â
Â
Outdoor Projects – Can you weedeat, pick up trash, clean out gutters, & do yardwork? Then we need your help!
Administrative Support – Maybe manual labor & direct service with clients aren’t the right place for you, but the office is – we’d love to have you work with us on administrative projects!
Opportunities Off-site
- Help set up a client in his or her new home! If you can lift furniture & you’ve got a few hours a month, we’ve been looking for you! We need help picking up furniture donations from folks in our community & delivering them to our clients in their new homes. Let us know when you’re available, and we’ll schedule our furniture pickups then!
- Soliciting Donations – Do you have community connections & a way with words? Help us secure donations of the items we need to free up resources to pay for more permanent housing!
- Engage your Faith Community – Room in the Inn & HOPE to HOME are faith-based programs that offer congregations a chance to get involved in relationships with people experiencing homelessness. If you’re part of a faith community that’s not already working with Homeward Bound, get the ball rolling!
- Recruit Landlords – Do you own rental property, or know someone who does? Sometimes we have clients ready to move in & the money to pay for housing, but can’t find landlords to work with us! Help us build connections in the real estate community to move people off the streets & into permanent housing!
We love volunteer groups, too!
  Volunteer group projects often include:
- Â Â Â Â Â Sorting donations
- Â Â Â Â Â Cleaning!
-      Helping staff move clients into their new homes
- Â Â Â Â Â Picking up furniture donations
- Â Â Â Â Â Landscaping projects
